About the event
Join Arihanta Institute professors Christopher Jain Miller, Jonathan Dickstein, and Cogen Bohanec for a free virtual roundtable exploring how Engaged Jain Studies speaks to contemporary questions of compassionate living, sustainability, and finding purpose through education.
This 45-minute conversation will offer a different kind of faculty interaction where professors candidly share about their scholarly paths and the questions that drive their work. Hear how these scholars approach nonviolence philosophy, both as rigorous academic study and as a framework for navigating daily ethical choices. The faculty will discuss what initially drew them to Jain Studies, surprising discoveries along the way, and current developments making the field particularly relevant now.
In this roundtable, Arihanta Institute faculty will address the questions students often ask:
- How does one begin studying nonviolence philosophy?
- Is Jain philosophy really practical and relevant in 2025?
- How might these studies inform career paths, consumption choices, and daily relationships?
The discussion will also examine what makes Arihanta Institute's approach to teaching philosophy, languages, and ethics distinct.
Following the moderated discussion, you'll have the chance to ask your own questions directly. The session concludes with practical information about earning university credit for Arihanta Institute-taught courses at your home institution.
This collaborative webinar brought to you by Arihanta Institute and Young Jains of America.
