April 24-25, 2027
05/18/2026
Arihanta Institute is proud to announce the dates for the 5th Annual Engaged Jain Studies Conference, which will be held on April 24 and 25, 2027 at Arihanta Institute.
Since 2023, Arihanta Institute has hosted the Engaged Jain Studies conference on Earth Day Weekend, as both a commitment to our steadfast commitment to the environment and all forms of life.
Each year’s theme and speakers for the conference are chosen to speak to issues of both scholarly and community concern. In 2023, we launched the first conference “
Defining Applied Jain Studies,” which was co-sponsored by Claremont School of Theology and the Graduate Theological Union and culminated in the recently published volume
Engaged Jainism. 2024’s conference took a close look at “
Yoga in Jainism” while 2025 emphasized “
Compassion-in-Action” with the support of the Uberoi Foundation. Finally, our 2026 theme focused on “
Engaged Anekāntavāda and Interreligious Dialogue,” was co-sponsored by the Uberoi Foundation and JAINA, and highlighted scholars contributing to the forthcoming volume
Jainism and Comparative Theology: A Multi-Religious Approach (Barbato, Brill, and Mehta, eds.).
Stay tuned for more announcements regarding the 2027 conference theme, speakers, and time schedule in the months to come.
