Welcome to Fall Semester 2025 at Arihanta Institute!

Dear Arihanta Institute Community,
 
Jai Jinendra and Welcome to Fall Semester 2025 at Arihanta Institute!
 
This semester, we warmly welcome you to participate in a wide range of graduate seminars, self-study courses, speaker events, and conference presentations with our faculty.
 
First, our professors will offer three graduate seminars at Claremont School of Theology for the Engaged Jain Studies MA including:
 
 
Please join us for an information session (Tuesday, Sept 9, 2025, 9:30-10:30 AM PDT | 6:30-7:30 PM CEST | 10:00-11:00 PM IST) to learn more about the Master of Arts in Engaged Jain Studies program. Meet Arihanta Institute faculty, ask questions, and gain clarity on the application and admission process as well as the academic experience. Register here.
 
Second, three live online self-study courses will be offered:
 
 
Third, 4 new self-study certificate courses on yoga as well as compassion will be launched:
 
 
Fourth, three “Voices in Compassion Studies” speaker events feature voices of compassion from the Dharma traditions:

Fifth, our faculty will be presenting their research and presiding over several panels at a number of conferences including the Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Religion in Boston for the Animals and Religion Unit, Contemplative Studies Unit, Music and Religion Unit, Yoga in Theory and Practice Unit, Indigenous Religious Traditions Unit, as well as the adjacent Dharma Academy of North America’s (DANAM) annual conference. I will be presenting on a Yoga studies panel at the Uncommoning Anthropology conference in Cologne, Germany, while Professors Bohanec and Dickstein will be presenting at the Jain Philosophy Symposium at Florida Atlantic University and the Annual Uberoi Meeting (AUM) at Cal State Fresno. Please say hello if you are attending any of these events, and if you are at the YJP Retreat in Los Angeles, be sure to meet Professor Dickstein who will also be there!
 
Finally, look out for a number of new publications from Arihanta Institute faculty this Fall, including, most prominently, Miller and Bohanec’s Engaged Jainism: Critical and Constructive Studies of Jain Social Engagement (SUNY) which will be available for preorder, and has contributions from many of our wonderful colleagues and community members!
